NORMAN/NORMAN
After witnessing the brutal murder of his mother 30 years ago, Norman travels to Jamaica to piece together what happened and where he came from by confronting the murderer: his father.
NORMAN/NORMAN was filmed in the United States and Jamaica and was scored with some of the finest instrumentalists in Los Angeles. The moody score features evocative textural and melodic writing for cello choir and nyckelharpa and has been praised by festival critics in both the United States and United Kingdom.
About the Composer
Los Angeles-based composer Grant Fonda works extensively with well-established and rising artists in film and music, continually demonstrating his wide range as a collaborator. His colorful score for the Emmy-winning The House that Rob Built is lauded for its innovation, his score for Paramount+ At Midnight is “one of the film’s greatest strengths,” his Irish-infused score for Pray: the Story of Patrick Peyton has garnered international attention and wins, and his sparkling jazz score and songs for Dating & New York have been critically hailed as “inspired” and “a supporting character[s]” after playing at Tribeca.
An alumni of USC’s Screen Scoring program and the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop, he is equally comfortable in front of an orchestra as he is working with rock bands and eclectic ensembles comprised of some of the world’s most unusual instruments.
Grant has contributed work to Oscar, Grammy, and Dove-nominated projects and his arranging work has recently landed at the top of Billboard charts. He has been a featured lecturer at NYU, USC, and The University of Missouri, and remains an active mentor to composers at the nation’s top music institutions.
